Jacob Delaney
AMHSW
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with experience across acute mental health, community services, and specialist forensic settings, working with individuals and groups. This breadth of practice has shaped a flexible, trauma informed approach and a strong appreciation for the diverse ways mental health challenges affect people’s lives. I have supported clients with a wide range of presentations, including Borderline Personality Disorder, Complex PTSD, and difficulties impacting mood, emotional regulation, and relationships. My clinical work is grounded in evidence based practice and draws primarily on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. These approaches guide my focus on building insight, strengthening emotional resilience, and supporting meaningful, values aligned change. Together, we develop practical skills and coping strategies that promote steadiness, clarity, and a more workable relationship with distress. Whatever you are navigating, I aim to offer a therapeutic space grounded in care, curiosity, and collaboration with humanity.

AMSHW
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker whose practice is anchored in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, which forms the foundation of my clinical work and guides how I support clients to develop emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and greater stability in daily life. My DBT practice is informed by extensive experience in the alcohol and other drugs sector, supporting people navigating trauma, substance use, and significant nervous system dysregulation. While DBT sits at the centre of my work, I also integrate Emotional Freedom Technique, Brainspotting, Polyvagal Theory, somatic vagus nerve practices, allowing flexibility within an evidence based structure when working with complex trauma. My approach is trauma informed, inclusive, and grounded in social justice, recognising the systemic and relational contexts of mental health. I aim to offer therapy that honours lived experience and supports movement towards safety, steadiness, and meaningful change over time with care.
Brenda Wei
BSW
I am an Accredited Social Worker supporting adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and the cumulative impact of ongoing stress and burnout. I have extensive training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and integrate DBT skills throughout my work to support emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and more effective responses to everyday challenges. I have a particular interest in working with people who feel overwhelmed by work pressures, emotional fatigue, or patterns that feel difficult to shift despite insight and effort. I understand that many people arrive in therapy feeling depleted, uncertain where to begin, or frustrated by repeated attempts at change. My approach is practical, compassionate, and collaborative. I work alongside clients to build skills that can be applied in real life, recognising that meaningful change develops gradually through repetition and practice. I offer a supportive therapeutic space where clients are encouraged to move at a pace and bring experience without judgement present.
Jean Short
Clinical Director
AMHSW
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and DBT Therapist with over 15 years of clinical experience, specialising in Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Complex PTSD, and other complex mental health presentations. I have completed advanced training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT), and trauma-informed care. I am currently undertaking postgraduate study in Sexology, a field that continues to enrich my clinical work by broadening my understanding of identity, sexuality, and relational wellbeing.
My approach is evidence-based, trauma-informed, and gender-affirming, grounded in respect for each person's complexity and dignity.
I love this work because it allows me to sit beside people as they reclaim their stories, their voices, and their lives. I am especially passionate about supporting those who have felt marginalised or misunderstood within mental health systems.
My work draws from DBT, RO-DBT, attachment theory, trauma-informed practice, parts work, harm reduction, and sexological frameworks. I am guided by an intersectional lens that considers how trauma, identity, and systems of power shape a person’s lived experience—and I strive to offer care that is compassionate, practical, and affirming.
Before founding Wise-Mind DBT Brisbane, I worked in hospital, community, and forensic settings, supporting individuals facing significant distress, suicidality, substance use, and relational trauma. I’ve always been drawn to work that demands both clinical precision and human connection.
PLEASE NOTE: As Clinical Director of Wise-Mind DBT Brisbane, I spend much of my time working directly with complex referrals. I primarily support individuals with high-risk presentations who may benefit from structured, skills-based interventions and longer-term therapeutic engagement.
At this time I am taking direct referrals only.
I am also available for formal assessment and reporting work across all states and territories
